Rapid Emergency Response for Stroke and Critical Conditions
Stroke symptoms and other critical medical conditions require immediate attention. Delaying emergency assessment may increase the risk of serious complications, permanent disability, or death.
New Padre Garcia Hospital provides rapid assessment and initial emergency care for patients experiencing possible stroke symptoms, seizures, loss of consciousness, sudden confusion, shock, severe weakness, and other potentially life-threatening conditions.
Our emergency team evaluates the patient’s breathing, circulation, level of consciousness, vital signs, symptoms, and medical history. Based on the patient’s condition, the team may provide immediate stabilization, continuous monitoring, diagnostic coordination, hospital admission, or referral and transfer assistance.
The Emergency Department is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Rapid Emergency Response for Stroke and Critical Conditions
This service provides initial emergency assessment and stabilization for patients experiencing neurological symptoms, changes in consciousness, seizures, circulatory problems, and other critical medical conditions.
Depending on the patient’s condition, emergency care may include:
- Rapid patient assessment and triage
- Airway, breathing, and circulation assessment
- Blood pressure and vital-sign monitoring
- Oxygen-saturation monitoring
- Level-of-consciousness assessment
- Neurological examination
- Blood glucose testing when ordered
- Review of symptom onset and medical history
- Medication review
- Laboratory examinations when medically required
- CT scan or other diagnostic imaging when ordered and available
- Oxygen or respiratory support when appropriate
- Emergency medication based on the doctor’s assessment
- Continuous patient monitoring and reassessment
- Hospital admission when required
