Some patients require more frequent monitoring and treatment than those receiving routine inpatient care but may not require the full resources of a specialized intensive-care unit.
At New Padre Garcia Hospital, high-dependency care may be provided within the hospital’s available beds, equipment, staffing, and monitoring capabilities.
These patients may need frequent vital-sign checks, oxygen support, intravenous treatment, neurological observation, cardiac or respiratory monitoring, and rapid medical review.
Patients whose condition exceeds the hospital’s available high-dependency capability may be stabilized and transferred to another healthcare facility.
